Bubbly & Bright

How does color inspire a night on the town? Perfectly.

The colorful Amanda Nisbet brought bright & bubbly to our Atlanta last week with an appearance at our showroom on the Westside. Inspired we translated that as happy hued macaroons and a little pink champagne; Wouldn’t you?

The hi-light of the evening (and our cause to celebrate) was the first peek at Amanda’s upcoming full lighting collection for The Urban Electric Co.

With a couple of sketches and a prototype or two, she whet the appetite and left us all wanting more, lots more.

Here are a few clues of what to expect when we officially launch early next year...,bracelets ,bold, inset, inlay, stingray  wood - wow !

Color us excited.

Color Stories / made in the shade

Somewhere between a Palm Beach holiday, designing our new Atlanta showroom & the blizzard in the city...the more abstract foundation for our color story took shape.

Rainy & cold, I was with Amanda Nisbet in New York reviewing lighting collection concepts when I got a sneek peak of her forth-coming fabric collection, it wowed me...

It had (for me) a certain nostalgic familiarity of great colorful silk screens on linen. 'Francesca' reminded me of thoose certain Halston caftan prints; 'Chip' was fresh and graphic in that David Hicks way... from it, "lolling" came to mind; curtained rooms with, of course, lamp shades to match.

Then, why not our lamps with Amanda's fabrics on the shades? And it all came together.

The gothic scary chair (that I dragged in one day and everyone hated), became the new office favorite after a coat of crocus & a covering of Francesca.

Those rather Cocteau hands (that I'm still obsessed with), a photo shoot and we were on our way...
