Field Trip: UECo U Series 6: Clemson Wind Turbine Testing Facility

The UECo University continued its offsite ‘Lunch & Learn’ series with a tour of Clemson Wind Turbine Testing Facility headquartered in the Navy Yard just a few miles from our headquarters and production studio.

The SCE&G Energy Innovation Center is a world-class facility dedicated to groundbreaking research, education and innovation at the Clemson University Restoration Institute (CURI) campus. The center houses the world’s most-advanced wind-turbine drivetrain testing facility which takes energy generated by a turbine’s blades and increases the rotational speed to drive the electrical generator. As the wind industry continues to develop and expand, the market is calling for larger wind turbines that need more extensive testing. This facility intends to the meet industry needs in the Southeast by providing a comprehensive testing site for new designs.

The whole experience was truly educational and inspiring for the UECo team members who attended the tour as UECo is committed to innovation in the lighting design and manufacturing industry in the same way that the engineers behind the Clemson Wind Turbine Testing Facility are committed to their field.
